Gunmen on Saturday, October 8, killed a former councillor and All Progressives Congress(APC) youth leader in Igbo-Eze South local government area of Enugu State, Hon. Lucky Idoko.

The Nation reports that Idoko, who represented Unadu community as councillor, was allegedly murdered in the village on his motorbike.

It was gathered that the gunmen who shot dead Idoko, who happens to be the chairman of a vigilante group in Unadu, did not attack the passenger he was carrying on his motorbike.

A source who spoke with the newspaper said:

”The APC chieftain was going about his business in his hometown in Unadu when the incident happened.

“What we don’t know is why he should be killed at this critical political moment. I don’t also know if he has problem with his security outfit of which he is the head.” The painful incident has been confirmed by the police command in the southeast state, through its spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe.

Ndukwe said in his report:

“Yes, the command has launched an investigation into the case of the alleged shooting and murder of one Lucky Idoko ‘m’, at Unadu community of Igbo-Eze South LGA, in the afternoon hours of 08/10/2022, by yet-to-be-identified armed hoodlums.
