“I Use 150 Bags Of Sachet Water To Survive Every Week In Lekki” — Media Personality, Papaya ex

Popular Social Media influencer, Abike ‘Papaya ex’ has complained bitterly over the state of the water in Lekki Area of Lagos.


According to the young lady, Lekki residents pay exhorbitant house rent but they can’t boast of clean water.

In her words:

We pay so much rent in Lekki for us to be using pure water to bath

A fan then asked ; But Abike if I may ask how many bags do you normally use to bath ?

She replied:

Just 3 bags. But I buy and use 150 bags every week cause this same pure water is what we use to cook and flush

In 2021, according to an Article by PUNCH, an Associate Director of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund, Kelly Ann Naylor, stated that access to water was not enough, noting that if the water wasn’t clean, it wasn’t safe to drink.

Similarly, a survey conducted by Nigeria’s Bureau of Statistics and UNICEF shows that millions of households in Nigeria do not have access to clean water sources. While the supply of clean water in Nigeria has improved recently, three in 10 people still lack access.

According to aid agencies, 60 million Nigerians, or 33 per cent of the population, do not have access to clean water.

Residents of Lekki, which is an affluent area of Lagos state are part of this estimated population of people who do not have access to clean water.
