WAEC disowns purported statistics of states with best WASSCE results
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has disowned purported statistics of states and zones with the best performance in the 2021 West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)..

WAEC has also threatened legal action against anyone or institutions misrepresenting the council.
There have been reports purported emanating from WAEC, as saying that Edo State has emerged the best state in the 2021 diet of the WAEC examinations, recording 92.8 percent pass rate among students who sat for the examination in the state.
The report was said to have emanated in a recent data released by WAEC and the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) published by data firm, Statisense on its Twitter handle.
But the council, in series of tweets on its Twitter handle on Sunday, disowned the report, saying it did not emanate from it.
“The attention of the West African Examinations Council has been drawn to a purported “Statistics of States and Zones with the Best Performance In WASSCE for School Candidates, 2021” which is alleged to have originated from WAEC.
“This is to inform the General Public and all Stakeholders that the information did not emanate from the Council. The Council hereby disassociates itself from the publication.
“Note that, WAEC will not hesitate to take legal actions against anyone/institutions who misrepresents the Council with false and malicious publications. Thank you,” it tweeted.
