BREAKING: Dozens of FBI agents raid Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence to conduct an unannounced search warrant

A team of agents from the FBI executed a search on Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence on Monday morning, Trump confirmed to CNN..

So far the only source of the news of the raid comes from Donald Trump himself, who said in a statement that his Florida residence is “currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents” and that those agents “broke into” a safe that belongs to him searching for whatever it was that they were seeking.

The search effort by the Federal Bureau of Investigation was presumably authorised by a federal judge who would need to have signed off on a warrant after being presented with a compelling argument as to why the surprise raid was needed.

Wuth Trump being investigated on multiple fronts, including by federal prosecutors in both Washington D.C. and New York, as well as by state prosecutors in both New York and Georgia, it’s uncertain at this point which investigation provided the impetus for the radical move.

Trump, whose lawyers have reportedly been in contact with the Justice Department since word of a gathering criminal investigation of the twice-impeached former president has been disclosed, claims that the raid was the result of “prosecutorial misconduct” and an example of “the weaponisation of the justice system,” an ironic comment from the man who perverted that justice system to try to bend the Department of Justice to serve his own nefarious ends.

“After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate,” Trump said in a statement while accusing Democrats of consipring to prevent him from running for president again. “Such an assault could only take place in broken, Third-World Countries.”

“They even broke into my safe!” Trump moaned. “What is the difference between this and Watergate, where operatives broke into the Democrat National Committee? Here, in reverse, Democrats broke into the home of the 45th President of the United States.”

“These are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home, Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents,” Trump said. “Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before,” he claimed.

It was a rare instance of Trump shrinking away from bragging about being the first president to do something.

With the Justice Department yet to comment on the raid, stay tuned for more details as the story develops and the reasons for the raid are disclosed.
