Accidental Discharge Allegedly Kills 24yrs Old Man At A Coronation Ceremony In Imo

A 24-year-old man, Chibuike Ugwuafor, was allegedly killed by an accidental discharge during a coronation ceremony in Imo state.


According to reports, the deceased was hit by a bullet after someone accidentally fired a shot from a gun during the ceremony.

The deceased will be laid to rest on Friday, September 2, 2022 in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State.

His bereaved sister, Immaculate Ugwuafor, announced the burial arrangement on Monday, August 29.

Meanwhile, family and friends of the late Chibuike Ugwuafor have since taken to Facebook to mourn his tragic demise.

A Facebook user, Ebuka Franchez wrote,

“A friend and More. A baller and More. Chibuike we nicked named him deep-root just for fun. A very good friend respects me to d core very fun to b with.. RIP brotherman. Died on Tuesday last week after an accidental discharged bullet hit him in imo state where he went to represent his father in a coronation ceremony. He is a member of ccb keep resting in power brotherman”.

In other news, a Taekwondo athlete identified as Maria Uchenna Raphael, has been killed in a motor accident in Nasarawa State.

Maria, who was a silver medal winner for team Nasarawa in the just concluded Bayelsa Open Taekwondo tournament, was crushed to death by a truck in Lafia, the state capital on Friday, August 26.

The Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, in a statement on Saturday, revealed that Maria had gone to purchase some items from a grocery store along UAC road few hours after returning home from the championship in Yenagoa, which ended on August 24th, 2022.

The statement which was signed by the spokesperson of the ministry, Uche Amos, described the death as an unquantifiable loss, adding that her immense contributions to sports in the state would be sorely missed.
