University Student Dies In The Hands Of Boyfriend Who Later Killed Himself

While the family of slain medical student Mandy Makola was laying her to rest today, the same was done for her alleged killer boyfriend in the same village.

According to Polokwane Weekly, Admiral Rakgwana Mampuru was also laid to rest today, Saturday, 23 July.

Laid in his home village of Maroke Madifahlane in Burgersfort, Mampuru took his life soon after killing his girlfriend, Mandy Makola on 11 July.

While many were touched by the death of the medical student, equally they felt no sympathy for Mampuru – some even saying ‘may he not rest in peace after what he did’.

Mandy Makola was a final year medical student, who was on the verge of completing her qualification when her life was cut short allegedly by her boyfriend.

She was enrolled in the Faculty of Science studying Medicine at the level 6 (final year). The aspirant doctor was left with a few months before completing her studies.

“It is with great sadness that the University community is informed of the passing of the aforementioned student on Monday, 11 July 2022.

She was enrolled in the Faculty of Health Science doing Medicine level 6 (Final year) for the academic year 2022. The funeral will take place on Saturday, 23 July in Burgersfort, Moroke Madifahlane. May her soul Rest in Peace,”

On Friday evening, 22 July, Mandy’s friends and family gathered outside the Health Science Faculty premises to hold a candle lighting service in honour and memory of her.

Both deceased were laid to rest today, Saturday, 23 July at Moroka Madifahlane village in Burgersfort in Sekhukhune District, separated by services.
