A 17-year-old boy was sentenced to 7 years in prison after spending 3 nights with his minor girlfriend. The case has sparked outrage on social media, with many people calling it a gross miscarriage of justice.
The girl’s parents filed a complaint against the boy, claiming their daughter was kidnapped and raped by her 17 year old boyfriend after going missing for 3 days. The 16 year old girl told court she willingly went to her boyfriend’s house spent 3 days with him and willingly had consented sex with him.
The boy’s family said that the girl’s parents were angry because their daughter had eloped with the boy and sought to punish him for what they viewed as an “teenager relationship”. The boy was sentenced to 7 years on Wednesday after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual activity with a child under 18.
