Newcastle United are winning the battle to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Arsenal this January, according to Daily Mirror..

The two clubs are currently in talks for a deal that could see the Gabonese become Newcastle United’s first signing this January.

Since arriving the Emirates in 2018, Aubameyang has been a standout player for Arsenal, scoring 92 goals in 163 appearances.

The Gabon international has also helped the club win the FA Cup and reach the Europa League final.

But the 32-year-old may have played his last game for the club after being stripped of the captaincy and banished from the main team having been accused of a ‘disciplinary breach’.

He has, however, been tipped to join Barcelona with Juventus also interested in him but Newcastle is now favoured to bring the Gabon striker to St James’ Park as they bid to avoid relegation.

Newcastle is in talks with the Gunners over an initial loan deal, with a view to a £20m deal at the end of the season.
