Tanker driver suffocates in his fuel tanker compartment
A 45-year-old tanker driver, Dahiru Aliyu on Monday morning entered one of the compartments of his vehicle with a container and foam to mop up spilled fuel, but did not come out alive..
According to Kano State Fire Service Aliyu got suffocated and died inside the tanker in an incident which occurred at at Hotoro NNPC depot.
“The incident happened on Monday morning. We received a distress call from one Shu’aibu Muhammad at about 10.59 a.m., and we sent our rescue team to the scene immediately,’’Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, public relations officer of the fire Service said in a statement on Tuesday.
He added that Aliyu entered one of compartments with a container and foam to mop up spilled fuel when he got suffocated and died.
“The petrol tanker has DKD 411 XF as its registration number,’’ Abdullahi stated.
