The House of Representatives has passed the 2022 budget with an increase to the budget of the National Assembly..

It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari had proposed N134 billion as statutory transfer to the National Assembly for 2022.

However, the Committee on Appropriations recommended N139 billion to the National Assembly.

The Chairman of the Committee on Appropriations, Muktar Batera, while presenting the report on the budget had announced the increment to the budget by N730 billion, with National Assembly being one of the beneficiaries.

It would be recalled that during the debate on the budget, the Spokesperson of the House, Ben Kalu had lamented the allocation to the lawmakers. According to Kalu, the N134 billion proposed by Buhari was too small.

In the budget passed, the Nigerian legislators, who have been labelled one of the highest-paid legislators in the world will get an additional N5 billion.
