Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta, has given the reason he did not feature captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in his side’s Premier League 3-0 victory over Southampton on Saturday..

Arteta left out Aubameyang in Arsenal’s match-day squad against Southampton at the Emirates Stadium as Alexandre Lacazette led the attack line.

Three goals from Lacazette, Martin Odegaard and Gabriel ensured Arsenal defeated Southampton at home.

Speaking on why Aubameyang missed the game, Arteta was quoted by Arsenal’s official website as saying after the match, “It was a disciplinary breach, and that is why he was out of the squad.”

Asked whether Aubameyang remains his captain, Arteta added, “Let’s talk about the game. I tried to explain why it was, and I did it frankly. I’m not going to say anything else, I’m going to focus on the performance and the quality that was on the pitch.”

Arsenal’s next game is against West Ham on Wednesday.
