Paul Scholes names Man United best player after 2-0 win over Villarreal

Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes has hailed Jadon Sancho as the best player during their 2-0 win at Villarreal on Tuesday night..

He said the England international now ‘looked half a stone slimmer’ than he has done since arriving at the club.

Sancho suffered difficulties at the start of his career at Man United, since signing for £73m from Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

He has not scored a goal or provided an assist before Tuesday night when he finally broke his duck.

And Scholes was thoroughly impressed with the 21-year-old’s performance.

“He looked fitter than he has done and I was really pleased for him today, young player, had a difficult start but I thought he was United’s best player tonight,’ Scholes told BT Sport.

“I think they need to use him more,’ said Scholes. ‘Playing in this team is a little bit different, because he doesn’t have a flying full-back like he had at Dortmund and he’s not an absolute flying machine himself.

“He wants to play into a centre-forward, play somebody in, he’s such a clever footballer, I’m really pleased for him, getting his goal and he looks fitter, he looks half a stone slimmer.”
