There are three players nominated for each of the four 2020/21 UEFA Champions League positional awards: best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, and forward. Jorginho wins Men’s Player of the Year

Chelsea and Italy midfielder Jorginho has been named 2021/21 UEFA Men’s Player of the Year.

The 29-year-old, who last season became only the tenth player to win a European Cup and a EURO in the same year, beat off competition from Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and Chelsea team-mate N’Golo Kanté. The award was announced during the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League group stage draw in Istanbul.

Thomas Tuchel wins Coach of the Season

Chelsea’s Thomas Tuchel has been named UEFA Men’s Coach of the Year for 2020/21.

Tuchel beat off competition from Roberto Mancini and Josep Guardiola to become the second German winner after Hansi Flick claimed the inaugural award for 2019/20. The prize winner was announced during the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League group stage draw in Istanbul.

Erling Haaland wins the Forward of the Season

Dortmundˈs Erling Haaland has been named Forward of the Season for the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League.

The 21-year-old, the competition’s top scorer last term, finished ahead of Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski and Kylian Mbappé of Paris in the vote to become Norway and BVBˈ’s first recipient of a UEFA award. The prize was presented to Haaland during the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League group stage draw ceremony in Istanbul.

Chelsea’s N’Golo Kanté has been named Midfielder of the Season for the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League.

The French international, 30, beat off competition from Jorginho and Kevin De Bruyne after a remarkable campaign that concluded with Player of the Match performances in the semi-finals and final. The award was presented to Kanté during the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League group stage draw ceremony in Istanbul.

The Portuguese center-back, outstanding in his first season in England, beat off competition from Chelsea pair César Azpilicueta and Antonio Rüdiger. The award was presented to the 24-year-old during the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League group stage draw ceremony in Istanbul.

Chelsea’s Edouard Mendy has been named Goalkeeper of the Season for the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League.

The French-born Senegal international, 29, beat off competition from Manchester City’s Ederson and Real Madrid No1 Thibaut Courtois to cap a remarkable rise from unemployment just seven years ago. The award was presented to Mendy during the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League group stage draw ceremony in Istanbul.
