Czech Republic VS Denmark: Delaney & Dolberg on target as Danes into semis

Published

A first-half strike each from Thomas Delaney and Kasper Dolberg proved the difference, in spite of an admirable Czech performance in the second half, following Patrik Schick’s goal..

Denmark’s dominance told once again after 42 minutes, as Joakim Maehle’s beautifully weighted cross from the left was met by Kasper Dolberg to fire home an unstoppable volley, as they took a two-goal lead going into the half-time break.

However, the Czech Republic flew out of the traps at the start of the second half and were shortly back in the contest, as Vladimir Coufal’s cross was guided home by Schick for his fifth goal of the tournament, which draws him level with Cristiano Ronaldo in the Golden Boot standings.

Whilst the Czech Republic pressed on for an equaliser, Denmark looked threatening on the counter-attack, as Maehle raced through after 80 minutes only to be denied by Tomas Vaclik, before Denmark held on to advance to a semi-final date with either Ukraine or England at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday, July 7.
