Real Madrid star Toni Kroos has snapped back at comments from Mason Mount in the wake of their Champions League semi-final defeat..

Chelsea triumphed 2-0 on the night at Stamford Bridge, ending Real’s hopes of reaching yet another Champions League final.

In truth, the subpar Madrid side barely looked like threatening the resolute Chelsea defence.

And an overjoyed Mount took the opportunity to get one over on experienced German midfielder Kroos for his comments ahead of the game, having said that he has never lost sleep over an opponent in his career.

“I saw one of their players say before that he doesn’t lose sleep over individuals,” Mount told CBS Sports after the 3-1 aggregate victory.

“But I think as a team, they need to lose sleep over us as a team. We give everything and we’re so strong together, we defended for our lives.

“You saw that today we don’t give away many chances. We are solid and we need to keep that going.”

Kroos has since snapped back on social media, refusing to let Mount get the better of him, but also offering him a classy pat on the back
