Hours After Nigerian Military Announced Attahiru’s Death, See How US Government Reacted (Details below)

Ibrahim Attahiru, the Chief of Army Staff, is said to have died in a military plane crash in Kaduna State.

According to military reports, the incident occurred on Friday at the Kaduna International Airport.

The ill- fated plane crashed at the airport around 6 p. m. , and all eight people on board are believed to be dead.

Meanwhile, The United States joined Nigerians in mourning the victims of the Kaduna plane crash.

On Friday night, the US Mission in Nigeria released a statement about the bad incident.


The United States says Nigeria is going through a tough time as it remembers the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru.

The death of Attahiru and others was described as a tremendous loss to Nigeria and his loved ones.

At this difficult time in Nigeria, when stability and peace are sorely needed, we extend our heartfelt condolences to General Attahiru’ s families of all those who perished,

The majority of Nigerians are shocked by the incident, which has a variety of arguments and hypotheses. Although some speculate that the plane formed a fault, others suspect assassination.

Attahiru’ s speech in the House of Representatives in April was one of his last public appearances.

Attahiru claims that his predecessors are in a stronger position to comment on the federal government’ s approval of weapons funds.

He was asked to clarify the summary of contracts concluded by the Nigerian Army by the Adhoc Committee on Arms and Ammunition Purchase.

The committee, chaired by Hon. Olaide Akinremi is looking into the military, paramilitary, and other agencies’ purchases and use of arms, ammunition, and related hardware.

The departing COAS said that he was unable to explain because he did not approve any contract.
