When games are hyped up to the max, they can disappoint. But that was not the case in Madrid as the two sides served up a breathless contest that could have gone either way.
Real were rocking towards the end, but held on and it’s fair to say the torrential rain made it an even better spectacle.
The win moves Real level with Atletico on 66 points, with Barca a point further adrift.
The Liga title race is bubbling up nicely and is tough to call. Barca appeared to have all the momentum but will need to fashion a response in the weeks ahead.
