At least two Boko Haram operatives were killed in a mid-week gunfight as Nigerian soldiers successfully repelled a blitz attack by the insurgents in Borno, an army memo said.

The internal army communication seen said the terrorists who came in four gun trucks and armed with other sophisticated military hardware were swiftly engaged by troops of Operation Lafiya Dole and Tura Takaibango — the army’s elite anti-terrorism units on Wednesday in Alagano village, in Damboa Local Government Area of the state.

“After about 25 minutes of fighting, Boko Haram terrorists wandered in disarray, abandoning two of their corpses with two AK 47 rifles with registration numbers 56-5220254 and 49020839,” the army correspondence said.

No soldiers were lost in the botched attack. Three army personnel, however, sustained minor injuries, the memo stated.

“Soldiers were administered first-aid,” the memo said. “General situation is calm but unpredictable… Troops’ morale and fighting spirit remain satisfactory,” it added.
