A federal High Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos has condemned two people, Moshood Ogunshola and Wasiu Lekan, to death for participating in an equipped theft activity at Ikotun, Alimosho Local Government.

The court decided that the activities of the convicts plotting and burglarizing one Wasiu Rasaki of his only means of transportation which is motorcycle at Ile Eja, Ikotun, while outfitted and as well as the robbers being protected with a cutlass, is said to have contradicted the Lagos state law.


Conveying judgment in the suit with charge No. ID/359C/13 between Lagos State versus Moshood Ogunshola and Wasiu Lekan, the appointed authority, Justice S. Ogunsanya, added that the two convicts, who were summoned on a two- check charge for conspiring to carry out theft and furnished burglary in Lagos, permission during the preliminary further required the decision.


Ogunsanya, in her decision, expressed that the offense of Moshood and Wasiu was culpable under section 261 and 297 of the 2015 Criminal Justice Law CH. C. 17 Vol. 13 of Lagos State.

The judge in his judgment clearly stated that the two of the defendants ” are hereby sentenced to death on the counts of conspiracy to commit robbery and armed robbery. ”


Prior, the arraigning counsel, Adebayo Haroun, in an explanation by Director, Public Affairs Officer, the state Ministry of Justice, Kayode Oyekanmi, on Thursday, encouraged the court to sentence the respondents likewise having seen them as liable of the charges against them.

The looters were captured by the police and summoned on a two- tally charge of scheme to carry out burglary and outfitted theft which contradicts the Criminal Justice Act of Lagos State.


You have to understand that armed robbery is a serious crime and as such should be avoided in its entirety. Crime does not appreciate an individual but rather, depreciate and end in fatality.
