A middle- aged man named Adamu Sule, narrated his ordeals in the hands of the Nigerian police just for being a good citizen who ought to help his country’ s police in intelligence gathering.

Adamu who spoke to newsmen while being paraded at the command headquarters on Thursday, said that he was arrested for reporting the discovery of over 300 pieces of ammunition in a new apartment he rented in Bauchi metropolis.

‌In Adamu words, ” After paying for the new apartment I rented, I collected the keys to clean the rooms before bringing my properties to the new house.


“On opening the door, I discovered something which I suspected to be bullets and uniforms in the rooms, I immediately alerted the local vigilante in the area who came and took it away.

“The following day, policemen came to the house and arrested me and three other people, they said that we are a gang of bandits and the things I reported seeing in the new apartment I rented were used by me and the other three people for operations.

“I swear, I don’ t know anything about the items that were discovered by me, if I am a bandit as the police claimed, why will I report to the vigilantes about what I discovered in the new apartment. ”

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, told newsmen that three other suspects were arrested alongside Adamu in connection with the case, following the information gathered by men of the police about bullets and Nigerian Immigration Service uniforms found in a four- bedroom apartment.

Ahmed went further to say that men of the Command were deployed to the house located at Kofa Dumi area of Bauchi State, to carry out a warrant of search and arrest.

At the cause of the search, two anti- aircraft (AA), one used shell of AA, two used shell of MG ammunition, 204 pieces of ammunition, 144. pieces of live ammunition and Immigration uniforms were recovered from the apartment.

Ahmed also told newsmen that the arrested suspects will be charged to court once they round up with investigations.

However, it was gathered that the four- bedroom apartment rented by Adamu Sule has been bulldozed down by the government.
