The Oyo State Police Command, yesterday, expressed concern over rising incident of jungle justice in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, following the recent #EndSARS protests.⁣

⁣The Guardian learnt that a week hardly passes these days without lynching of one or more persons by an irate mob over suspected cases of theft, robbery, kidnapping and burglary.⁣

⁣No fewer than two people were set ablaze in different parts of Ibadan on Monday, while the third person escaped being killed due to timely intervention of Amotekun men.⁣

⁣Expressing concern over the trend, the Oyo State Police Command in a statement issued by its Spokesman, Olugbenga Fadeyi, condemned the recurring jungle justice, which he described as a dangerous signal’.⁣

⁣Angry mob burnt two persons at Asas, Molete and Oke-Ado areas of Ibadan on December 28, 2020, about 9:00 a.m., while one other was rescued by the Amotekun team and handed over to the police now being treated at the Police Clinic in Eleyele.⁣

“Investigation has commenced into the matter to ascertain the immediate and remote causes of the mob action. Jungle justice is a condemnable act, as this has become a recurring decimal in the state.⁣
