For many of us, the shower is a one-stop-shop for cleaning everything from head to toe. Anyway, who is that person who would not want to take care of everything about their cleaning business in the shower? Just because you are cleaning up everything does not mean that every single hygiene undertaking should take place in the shower. Experts say that your face is the one body part that you should not really wash in the shower.

Dermatologists say that the shower may be good for cleaning your hair and washing your underarms but it might be unhealthy. Your face is one of the most sensitive skin areas of your body. The daily hot shower rinse might be creating certain long-lasting damage to the facial skin. Researchers from the Schweiger Dermatology Group say that hot water will enlarge capillaries and blood vessels. This can leave the skin red and intensify infections like rosacea leaving the vessels broken and permanently enlarged.

According to a report by Edujandon.com, other scientists agree by observing that hot water can dry out the face by removing its protective oils. “Hot water can cause and aggravate friable capillary networks in the cheeks, causing visibly unattractive capillary networks and worse skin conditions,” reads By Edujandon.com. Well+Good says that if you still want to clean your face in the shower you can do it but there are things you need to observe. If you have to wash your face in the shower, maintain the temperature to what a heated pool feels like and do not take more than 10 minutes. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the skin on your face just like all skin can get too dry if there are long contacts with water. It is therefore advisable to make it not so hot, not so frequent and not so long.

When the temperature is maintained to be lukewarm, the risk of enlarging capillaries is reduced. The warmth and hydration in there make the skin to respond to mild removal of a layer of the skin and thorough cleansing. Also, you are likely to clean your entire face and rinse thoroughly. This means you will have little to no outbreaks in places such as your hairline.
