A vile husband tortured his wife for five days after locking her inside a homemade prison on the roof of their apartment.

Shocking photos revealed Mırvet Nivej’s body covered in injuries while lying in hospital after neighbours raised the alarm when they overheard her screams.

Ilyas Arık has been accused of keeping Mırvet Nivej, his wife prisoner for five days after she had recently delivered their daughter in Sanliurfa, Turkey.

The 28-year-old painter and decorator is reported to have beaten her with a chain, a stick and used pliers to remove her fingernails.

Mırvet Nivej was left chained up and brutalised by Ilyas Arık and was found half naked and covered in blood by officers.

Medics took her to Balıklıgol State Hospital where she was discovered to have a skull fracture and serious injuries all over her body.

The victim spoke of her torment and revealed she had been chained up by husband after she returned to their apartment to give birth.

Mırvet Nivej said she spent a lot of time residing in a woman’s shelter after getting married to her husband back in 2018.

She said: “He was constantly being violent. I ran away from home and stayed in the state shelter several times.

“But I returned home to give birth to my baby. After birth, he was violent and tortured, beat my nails with pliers.

“He also kidnapped my 40 day old daughter.”

The victim is reported to be one of Ilyas Arık’s two wives and the couple are reported to have been wed in an arranged religious marriage.

Distressing video footage shows the victim lying in the hospital while her face remains covered in bruises.

Speaking in broken Turkish, she said her husband assaulted everybody in the family.

She is believed to have relocated to Turkey back in 2011 from Syria with her family.

The homemade prison

Local media reports differ on how many kids both of them have together, with some stating three and others reporting one, with two from Ilyas Arik’s second marriage.

He reportedly revealed to the cops he beat her because she allegedly cheated on him and he was jealous.

Temmuz reports 20 cops searched for Ilyas Arik and arrested him after discovering him hiding at a nearby house.

He even reportedly distributed pictures of the alleged abuse on the internet as if he was proud of the assault.

The suspect is facing an indictment that has been prepared by prosecutors demanding imprisonment of up to 34 years.

Photos revealed the cage-like structure covered over with blankets which was built on the roof of the property.

Blood stains can also be spotted on pillows reportedly recovered by the cops from the scene.

Halil Arik, the suspect’s nephew is also believed to have assisted his uncle in escaping when he heard police sirens.

The nephew is also believed to have hidden a blood-stained carpet, pillow, chains and pliers in a stairwell, but they were discovered by officers.

He also has been arrested by Turkish police, according to reports from Bursadabugun.

The victim will reportedly move to a woman’s shelter once she has recovered from her wounds.

Her baby is presently being catered to by the state and will be returned to her when she is back to full health.

The indictment reported that chains, screwdrivers, pliers, keys, and sticks were as weapons used during torture.
