Vardy scores hat-trick as Leicester batter Pep Guardiola’s side

Football – effing hell. That was another crazy game in this surreal start to the 2020-21 season. Jamie Vardy tore City apart, scoring a memorable hat-trick as Leicester came from a goal down to humiliate Manchester City. He was sensational, just so ruthless when it mattered. I’m still not sure what we’ve just seen, but the scoreline definitely says Manchester City 2-5 Leicester City.

More on those penalties – all three came from when the attackers had got goalside on the defenders yet all three of Garcia, Mendy and Walker did the one thing you cannot afford to do – is man handle their opponent instead of dropping back. Basic defending and City cannot seem to do it. Worrying.

Also worrying is that it is the first time in 686 games as a manager that a side of Pep Guardiola has conceded five goals – these are strange times indeed
