Anambra lovers commits suicide after parents refused to give marriage consent (See suicide note)
Two lovers from Okija, Anambra State reportedly drank poison (Sniper) after their parents refused to give their consent to get married to each other.
A Facebook user, Nwedo Angel, who shared the story on the platform revealed that the families refused to give their consent for the lovers to marry over the Osu (slave) culture in Igbo land..
The Osu caste system is an ancient practice in Igboland that discourages social interaction and marriage with a group of persons called Osu.
The Osus are made to live in shrines or marketplaces and are objected when seeking a romantic, marital and often congenial relationship outside of their cast

We both are from Okija in Ihiala local Government Area, Anambra State, Nigeria. We have always wanted to spend the rest of lives together, we’ve always planned our future together.

Why will we keep sufferering for what we know nothing about, for something we didn’t do??? Why do we still chose to stay in the dark? This is racism in disguise, yet we want to be treated equally in the white man’s land, charity they say begins at home.
