Ikpeazu speaks after testing positive for COVID-19 infection

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has assured the people of the state that he is stable despite testing positive to Coronavirus infection.

Recall that the governor tested positive for Coronavirus on Monday and has since gone into isolation.


The development was confirmed in a statement released by the Commissioner for Information in the state, John Okiyi Kalu, on Monday.

However, the spokesperson of the governor, Onyebuchi Ememanka, in a statement revealed that the state Governor has presented himself for another test, after testing negative initially.

He stated, “As your Governor, I have a responsibility to do what is right and keep our people fully updated about my health status”.

Governor Ikpeazu in the statement noted that testing positive to Coronavirus is not a death sentence, he charged the people of Abia State to continue to take precaution against the virus.

According to the release, “The Governor who has already commenced self-isolation under the careful watch of experienced medical personnel directed that the Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu shall hold the forte in his absence”.
