As Nigerians celebrate Democracy Day, Femi Fani-Kayode, on Friday alleged that over one million Nigerians have been killed in the past five years.

Fani-Kayode also claimed that over the last five years, properties and the Nigerian economy have been destroyed.

In a tweet, he insisted that tyranny has been established in Nigeria, while many citizens have been denied justice in the last five years.

According to Fani-Kayode: “Over 1 million slaughtered over the last 5 years, economy destroyed, poverty entrenched, tyranny established, justice denied, yet we still STAND!

“We are strong. We are resilient. We are courageous. We refuse to bow and in the end we SHALL prevail!

“Happy Democracy Day Nigeria!”

President Muhammadu Buhari was elected into power on May 29, 2015, which was the day initially set aside to mark Democracy Day in Nigeria.

Buhari, however, reviewed the date of Democracy Day to June 12 in a bid to commemorate the annulment of MKO Abiola’s victory at the presidential election of 1993.
