Security in and around the residence of Madam Ibironke Abiodun Bankole, mother of the Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been beefed up by armed personnel from the state police command.

The deployment of the security officials follows Saturday’s protest by commercial motorcycle (Okada) and Tricycle (Keke) operators at her residence in Akerele area of Surulere. The Okada and Keke operators had stormed the place in the morning to plead with Sanwo-Olu’s mother to prevail on her son to suspend the ban on their operations in 15 Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.

The operators, who chanted solidarity songs, lamented that the ban would render them jobless.

They said rather, the government should regulate their services, saying the business is their only means of survival.

The protesters later left when nobody in the house came out to address them.

They, however, promised to return some other time. It is not clear whether Sanwo-Olu’s mother was inside in the house when the protesters stormed the place.

Not long after they left, a detachment of policemen were deployed to the house.
It was gathered that the deployment of more policemen to the building was forestall any breakdown of law and order in the area..
