Iheanacho Scores and Assists on first EPL start this Season

Kelechi Iheanacho started his first game in the premier league this season and the forward showed some impressive form scoring and assisting as Leicester City routed Aston Villa 4-1 at Villa Park.

Iheanacho was on the bench in midweek after impacting Leicester’s comeback win against Everton, when he scored and also got an assist.

On Sunday, he threaded a pass through to the League’s top scorer Jamie Vardy (20′)to put Leicester ahead and on their way to an eighth consecutive win.

The Nigerian then benefited off a pass from James Maddison in the near post to double for the visitors.

Minutes earlier Iheanacho had been booked for a rash tackle, albeit it looked innocuous. He would go on to play quite cautiously afterwards, with the likelihood of a sending hanging over his head.

But the drama will come before the break as Villa captain Jack Grealish halved the deficit (45+2′) to give his side some hope.

When the sides resumed Iheanacho continued to impact the game, and with Leicester in the same type of rhythm extended their lead further in the 49th minute after Johnny Evans headed home from a corner kick.

The next big action from the Foxes was not a goal, but the substitution of Iheanacho and it came with a hug and pat on the back from Leicester Boss Brendan Rodgers.

One more goal for Jamie Vardy in the 75th minute sealed the win and the Foxes stay second, keeping pace with leaders, Liverpool to eight points.
