Ballon D’Or 2019: All you need to know

On Monday night, France Football will unveil the winner of this year’s Ballon D’Or award.

The event will be held at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, France and the official ceremony won’t start until 19:30 GMT.

Barcelona captain, Lionel Messi, is widely expected to win the prize for a record sixth time, one more than his eternal rival, Cristiano Ronaldo.Messi has scored 40 goals already in 2019 and led Barca to another LaLiga title and the semi-finals of the Champions League.

The Argentine superstar has already been named FIFA’s The Best Men’s Player for 2019, ahead of Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk.

USA women’s World Cup superstar, Megan Rapinoe, has been tipped to win the female prize.
