Guardiola reveals why Man City defeated Chelsea 2-1, speaks on Mahrez’s performance

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has disclosed that his side defeated Chelsea 2-1 in the Premier League on Saturday because they were much better against the Blues in the second half of the encounter.

He also hailed winger, Riyad Mahrez, for his brilliant display against Chelsea.Two goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez gave Guardiola’s men all three points against Chelsea.

However, N’Golo Kante did score a goal for Frank Lampard’s men at the Etihad Stadium.

“We scored a goal when they were better. The game was tight. Second half we were much better. They had a few at the end,” Guardiola was quoted by Football London as saying after the match.

“With the problems they had with injuries. Frank is a courage manager. A great victory for us.

“Coming into the game and in our recent form I wanted to be brave, you saw that. We had a relative control of the game. We were playing well.”

He added: “It was a fantastic goal from Mahrez. I want the best for my players, he can do better. He has not been in the best form, but it can increase in the next weeks.”
