Chelsea 0-1 West Ham: Blues suffer 2nd league defeat after 6 straight wins

West Ham relieved the pressure on boss Manuel Pellegrini as they ended their seven-game winless run with a first victory at Chelsea for 17 years.

Frank Lampard’s men were frustrated by a resolute West Ham United side on Saturday as they fell to defeat at home, ending their run of good form.

Chelsea couldn’t find the net in the first half despite having the lion’s share of possession and having a handful of good chances. Both goalkeepers made fine saves to keep the scores level as they went into half-time.

Then, early in the second half, West Ham’s Aaron Cresswell cut in from the left hand side in the box to curl one into the bottom corner with his right foot. They thought they had a second later on, but the ball was judged to have hit Michail Antonio’s arm on the way into the net after a VAR check.
