NACA DG resigns, Buhari appoints Aliyu

The Director- General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS , Prof Sani Aliyu , has resigned his appointment one year to the end of his tenure .

President Muhammadu Buhari has therefore approved the appointment of Dr Gambo Aliyu as the new DG .
This was announced by Permanent Secretary , General Services , Office of Secretary of the Government of the Federation, Olusegun Adekunle , who said the “ appointment is for an initial term of four years and takes effect from June 26 , 2019 . ”

The statement read in part , “ The new DG is an epidemiologist and Public Health specialist, he was the chief of party for the Nigeria Indicator and Impact Survey until his appointment .

“ He attended the Ahmadu Bello University of Zaria , Nigeria, where he obtained Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 1995 , later proceed to University of Maryland , to obtain PhD in Epidemiology in 2012 . ”
