Man United unveils 2019/2020 pre-season tour squad, Fred left out due to ‘family reasons’

Fred was the most notable absentee from the squad which will travel to Australia for Manchester United’s pre-season tour.

The party announced this morning omitted the midfielder, despite him being at Carrington, as shown on his Instagram .
Both Fred and and Matteo Darmian are believed to be planning to join up with the squad later in the tour having been excused for ‘family reasons’.

The Manchester Evening News report the Brazilian is due to get married next week, after posts from his partner seemed to hint at wedding plans. However, he appeared to tied the knot last year.

Fred, 26, joined United last summer from Shakhtar Donetsk.
He penned a five-year contract at Old Trafford, with the option of a further year, after the Red Devils paid upwards of £50million to Shakhtar.

But he struggled to hold down a regular starting spot in his first season at United, featuring just 17 times in the Premier League, scoring once.

Darmian, meanwhile, continues to be linked with a move away from United after four years at Old Trafford.
He was restricted to just seven appearances in all competitions in 2018-19 having failed to force his way into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans.
Young goalkeeper Dean Henderson is another absentee from the tour.
The England Under-21 shot-stopper is expected to pen fresh terms at United before returning to Sheffield United on loan.
He helped the Blades to promotion to the Premier League last season as Chris Wilder’s side finished second in the Championship.
