9th Assembly: Omo-Agege defeats Ekweremadu, emerges Deputy Senate President
Senator-elect for Delta Central, Ovie Omo-Agege has won the seat of deputy President of the 9th Senate.
He polled 67 votes to defeat his rival, Senator Ike Ekweremadu who polled 37 votes.
Ekweremadu who is the immediate past Deputy Senate President was surprisingly nominated by Chukwuka Utazi representing Enugu North Senatorial district.
Ekweremadu is of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while Omo-Agege is of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and has been adopted by the APC and President Muhammadu Buhari.
