Mourinho reacts after Kepa refused to obey Sarri

Jose Mourinho has said that Kepa Arizzabalaga’s decision to undermine Maurizio Sarri, during Chelsea’s Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City made him “really sad”.

Kepa caused huge controversy at Wembley, by refusing to be substituted for Willy Caballero, in the second half of extra time with the game set to go to penalties.

Sarri was clearly angered by the goalkeeper’s behaviour, although after the game the Italian moved to play down the incident.

But Mourinho, who won three Premier League titles in his two stints as Chelsea boss, believes Kepa’s actions put Sarri in a weakened position.
“I don’t like that he leaves his coach and the assistant coach in a situation of great fragility.
“Luckily, I never had to go through this.
“The goalkeeper wants to show his personality, his confidence wants to show that he is there and wants to be at the shootout and make saves, and I like that,” Mourinho told DAZN.
