The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has reacted to the call by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to reject results of last Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections across the country.

Recall that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had rejected earliest results being announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

INEC, reacting to allegations by the PDP, rejected the call for redress on the presidential results.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman of INEC, Mr. Rotimi Oyekanmi, while addressing journalists in Abuja, said there was no basis for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to reject the results of last Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections across the country.
Oyekanmi said: “The commission is doing the right thing and would not want to join issues with anyone or party.
“The results being announced are not full of errors, they are valid. We have not concluded the release of the results. We have just released some and we still have results of other states to declare.

“So, we will continue with what we are doing successfully and as expected of us. What we are doing is the right thing to be done.”
Meanwhile, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, President Muhammadu Buhari, is currently leading in the presidential election conducted on Saturday.
Results obtained from states collation centers by DAILY POST showed that President Buhari is coasting to victory as against his Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, challenger, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
