Onnoghen Still CJN – Supreme Court Website

The Supreme Court has refused to update its website to carry details about the new Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad.
The Supreme Court has resumed sitting on Monday with the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, presiding over a five-man panel of the court.

However, a check on the website of the Supreme Court by MEDIAHELM NEWS on Monday which is the first working day after Justice Muhammad purportedly took oath of office as Acting CJN, reveals that the embattled Justice Walter Onnoghen is still recognised as Chief Justice of Nigeria by the Court as no update on his purported suspension was reflected online by the Court’s Chief Registrar, Mrs Hadizatu Mustapha.

Recall that Justice Muhammad was immediately sworn in by President Muhammadu Buhari after the ‘suspension’ of Justice Onnoghen as CJN, last Friday.

Meanwhile, other Justices sitting alongside Acting CJN on the Supreme Court panel sitting on Monday include: Justices Mary Peter-Odili, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, Amiru Sanusi and Paul Galinje.
