It was carnival-like as the new acting IGP Abubakar Adamu Mohammed arrived Police Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House Abuja on Tuesday.

All the seven floors of Force HQ were lively and faces of policemen were beaming with smiles, discussing freely with senior officers.

He arrived with the outgoing controversial IGP Ibrahim Kpotun Idris at about 1.30pm.

After a brief handing over ceremony Idris hurried away.

Daily Independent gathered that the new IGP paid a courtesy call on the chairman Police Service Commission, Alhaji Musiliu Smith, a retired IGP with the DIGs.

When Mohammed stepped out, both police officers, rank and file as well as well wishers formed a crowd hustling to greet him.

He had to move DIG R&P office where he received both officers and civilians visitors till 6pm.

It took the Commissioner of Police in charge of Provost and her Deputy much time to control the crowd.

From 6.18pm till 6.32pm when he came to ground floor to go to the front of the building where his staff car and escort cars were packed, the crowd barricaded his car, blocking him from entering, cheering and using their phones to take his photograph while some used their phones to video him and the crowd. All along he was waving and smiling.
