If Daily Trust breaks the law, follow due process instead of resorting to jackboot — Atiku
The presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 General Elections , Atiku Abubakar, has urged the military to follow due process in the case of Daily Trust newspapers whose offices were invaded on Sunday evening by armed soldiers .
The Nigerian Army on Sunday night said it invaded the Daily Trust offices in Abuja and Maiduguri , Borno State to invite workers of the media company over a story in its Sunday publication, “ which divulged classified military information , thus undermining national security . ”
The Army said the invasion was “ done with the best of intention , ” claiming that its invitation of the workers was to make them realise the implications of the publication to national security .
Taking to his verified Twitter handle @ atiku , the PDP flag bearer had tweeted :
I have received with concern news of the sealing of Daily Trust corporate headquarters in Abuja. Freedom of the press is the bedrock of our democracy and nothing should be done to compromise it. https://t.co/VurfBJFwXn

If Daily Trust as an institution or any of its staff is in breach of the law, I recommend that due process be followed and not a resort to the jackboot.
