Jose Mourinho sends message to Ed Woodward after Man United draw with Arsenal

Jose Mourinho sent a clear message to Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward over a lack of quality in his squad following the side’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal.
Jesse Lingard’s prodded strike immediately after an own goal from Marcos Rojo rescued a point for United and Mourinho praised the ‘soul’ and ‘attitude’ of his players after the final whistle at Old Trafford.

However, the match was scrappy affair, with both sides failing to capitalise on serious chances, and it’s clear Mourinho is eyeing the January transfer window to improve his options.
Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to bring in reinforcements this winter and made sure to highlight the dearth of quality at United following the draw.
‘We shoot ourselves so many times during the season. That is really difficult. Big soul by the players, fantastic attitude from the first minute,’ he told BT Sport.
‘Many players in difficulties, some good performances, some players in difficulty, [Diogo] Dalot, [Marcos] Rojo, [Matteo] Darmian, [Eric] Bailly, [Chris] Smalling – a brave guy to play with such difficulties – the boys left their souls.
‘And when sometimes people speak about quality… [silence]
‘We should win game we made two big mistakes for their goals., we made other mistakes that allowed them to have counter attack situations, easy passes that we lost, easy controls that we lost, things that at high level normally you don’t do it. Our performance is marked by these ups and downs.
‘The second goal comes in awful moment for a team that was on top of the game.’
Asked if it was a positive sign that United players were ‘sacrificing’, Mourinho replied: ‘Yes, positive but there are things I cannot get from them and I cannot say much more than this.
‘Big soul, everybody gives everything, that is for sure and that’s a positive feeling.
‘I cannot tell you much more I prefer just to say I’m happy with soul commitment bravery I’m really happy with that.’
