Lukaku fires Man Utd to victory over Burnley

Man United breezed to a two goal win over Burnley despite playing for 20 minutes with 10 men. Burnley were uninspired, insipid and lacked any bite, gifting space and time to United to pass through them, offering next to nothing with their own attacking play.

Romelu Lukaku scored twice, though could have had three times as many goals had things gone his way, and was denied a hat-trick when Paul Pogba decided to take a penalty awarded to United in the second half. One silly runup later and Joe Hart had denied him from the spot.

Marcus Rashford was sent off for thrusting his head into Phil Bardsley’s face after taking exception to a naughty altercation as the two competed for the ball near the goalline. It made no difference, Burnley struggled to create, left even more holes at the back and were lucky not to be reduced to 10 men themselves as Ben Mee, astonishingly, went unpunished for hurling himself to the ground and catching the ball as Lukaku ran through on goal.

Man Utd were good but this game was made far too easy by a side that Sean Dyche will have serious concerns about.
