Defections, vindication of Ndigbo’s rejection of Buhari in 2015 – South-East youth

IGBO Youth Movement, IYM, yesterday, said recent massive defections by members of the National Assembly had vindicated Ndigbo for refusing to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari during the 2015 presidential poll. The group therefore, asked Nigerians to apologise to Ndigbo for mocking them over their rejection of Buhari during the 2015 election, as current political events in the country had vindicated the South East’s position during the election.

This was contained in a statement signed in Enugu yesterday, by the founder of the union, Evangelist Elliot Ugochukwu-Uko.

The statement read, “Nigerians must apologise to the South East for their inate wisdom in the voting choice they made in 2015 elections.

“All those who mocked Ndigbo then can see from the current defections in the National Assembly, NASS, Tuesday, that Ndigbo were right all along.

“The South East simply made a smart choice in 2015.The rest needed three horrible years of bariccading of homes of judges, senators among others to discover that Ndigbo were right all along in their voting pattern of 2015.

“ Now the scales have fallen off everybody’s eyes,we are waiting for the apology. Remember they mocked us for putting our eggs in one basket. They decamped back to the basket. They simply couldn’t see what Ndigbo saw in 2015.”

Mbaka on his own for asking President to apologise to Nigerians—Biafra Zionists

Meanwhile, members of the Biafra Zionists Federation, BZF, yesterday said they were not interested in any apology being sought by Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka from President Muhammadu Buhari over the killings across the country.

This is as the group said it would inaugurate its cabinet members on August 20, 2019.

Fiery Enugu priest, the Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka had on Sunday asked Buhari to either tender an apology over the killings being orchestrated by suspected herdsmen or face the wrath of God.

However, in a statement, President of the BZF, Barr. Benjamin Onwuka, said Mbaka was on his own over his demand of apology from Buhari.

Onwuka, who said there was no going back on reclaiming the defunct Biafra Republic, said: “Fr. Mbaka does not know what he is talking about. Nobody is interested in any form of apology from Buhari or anybody else.

“Will such apology bring back the lives that have been lost? Will such apology pay for the injustices our people have suffered? So, Mbaka merely expressed his opinion which does not hold water. He is on his own. Biafrans will never accept any apology from Buhari.
