#WorldCup 2018: Messi breaks Diego Maradona’s record in 2-1 win over Nigeria
Barcelona star, Lionel Messi on Tuesday night surpassed football legend, Diego Maradona’s World Cup record in the 2-1 victory over Nigeria.Messi made (107) dribbles at the Rostov Arena Stadium against the Super Eagles to overtake Maradona (105) to become the player with the most dribbles completed in World Cup history since 1966 (107).
The 31-year-old had put his side ahead with a 14 minutes strike.
But Victor Moses levelled up for the Eagles through a penalty kick six minutes into the second half.
However, Rojo gave the La Albiceleste their first win of the tournament with a clinical finish less than 10 minutes to the final whistle.
Messi will hope to lead Argentina to victory when they clash with France on Saturday in the round of 16.
