World Cup 2018: I hold goals record, not Cristiano Ronaldo – Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan

Ghana striker, Asamoah Gyan, has hit back after it was wrongly reported that Cristiano Ronaldo had become the first man to score at eight successive major tournaments.
Ronaldo netted a sublime hat-trick in Portugal’s 3-3 draw with Spain on Friday night, to ensure he has scored in an eighth major tournament in a row.

However, Gyan has come out to point out that he scored in nine major tournaments in a row.

“People disregard my achievements in the World Cup history but I want the whole world to know that I have not been given the fair shake but records will remain forever,” the 32-year-old tweeted.

Striker Gyan, who plays for Kayserispor in Turkey, boasts an impressive CV at major tournaments, finding the target at three World Cups and six African Nations Cup tournaments.
