Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez shocked by Zidane’s resignation

Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, had admitted that Zinedine Zidane’s resignation as manager, took him by surprise.
Zidane brought his two-and-a-half year stint in charge of the LaLiga side to an end on Thursday, few days after winning the Champions League for the third consecutive year.

The Frenchman appeared at a press conference with Perez, who was evidently distraught at news of his departure.

“I wasn’t prepared for this news. I want to thank Zizou for his dedication to the job, his passion and his affection. He’s an example for everyone, I hope that this doesn’t serve as a farewell, I want him to return someday.

“After winning the Champions League, I wasn’t expecting this. Zidane knows I loved him more than any other player or manager and I’ve always wanted him by his side.

It was a completely unexpected decision for me. It’s a sad day for me and for the supporters, but when Zizou makes a decision, then we have to respect it because he deserves it,” Perez said.

Arsene Wenger, Mauricio Pochettino and Antonio Conte, have already been linked with the vacant post.
