Plateau: Herdsmen rustle Anglican Bishop’s cattle, kill one

Despite ongoing curfew, the Plateau State Police Command on Saturday confirmed the killing of one person by suspected herdsmen in Jos South LGA of Plateau State.

The Command, through its Spokesman, DSP Mathias Terna Tyopev, said “Today being 30/06/2018 at about 07:00 hours the Plateau State Police Command, Jos received an information that nine cattle belonging to the Archbishop of the Anglican Diocese of Jos, Bishop Benjamin Kwashe were rustled by men suspected to be herdsmen.

“In the process, one Adamu Dung, a 46yrs old Vigilante man at Kangang Area of Jos was shot and killed by the rustlers.

“His corpse has been deposited at the Bingham University Hospital, Jos”.

Meanwhile, the spokesman said investigation is ongoing to track and arrest the perpetrators to face justice.

It would be recalled that three LGAs in the state: Barkin Ladi, Riyom and Jos South have been under curfew since last Sunday.
