Deputy national chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Jerry Obasi at the weekend said that without APGA, the governor of Imo state, Chief Rochas Okorocha could not have even won councillorship election.
Obasi, who made this known in Abakaliki during in a chat with DAILY POST, stated that Okorocha, who is the chairman of the All Progressives congress, APC, governors’ forum, rode to power on the back of APGA but abandoned the party when he was needed most.

“It was on the back of APGA that Okorocha rode and became governor. Without APGA Okorocha can’t win even councillorship election. But unfortunately, Okorocha abandoned APGA when the party needed him most. So, the clamour that Rochas want to comeback to APGA, well he is welcomed in APGA but I don’t think Okorocha has the moral right to comeback to APGA.”

The deputy national chairman further revealed the preparedness of the party to takeover power from the ruling All Progressives congress, APC, at the centre, especially in the forthcoming 2019 general elections.

“APGA is going to form government in the forthcoming 2019 election at the centre. Because with the drift in PDP and in APC, APGA remains the best option for Nigeria.

He further said, “The government of APC is still transiting but I will be very frank with you. The federal government led by President Muhammadu Buhari has not done so well. But I will score his government high in the area of fighting corruption. But it seems he is being selective, because I have not seen him arresting anyone from APC. In fact, Nigerians are hungry and they are crying.”

Obasi also called on the Ebonyi state government led by Gov. David Umahi to sit up, adding that the people of the state were waiting to either vote him in or out in the forthcoming 2019 general elections.

“The government led by Gov David Umahi may have done well in some areas and as well have failed in some areas too. This is because what I described as success may be somebody’s failure and what I described as failures may be someone’s success.

“But all the same, there are lot of things the government in place needs to do. Well, I have seen at least three bridges the governor has done but you should know that it is only the living that will ply on flyovers. The hungry person cannot appreciate the flyover. The unemployed person can’t appreciate these flyover. The sick person who needs medical care cannot appreciate flyover.

“The uneducated person may not know the value of these flyovers. So, when you put this things together, you can now know whether the government has done well or not. I appreciate the fact that there are flyovers here and there in Ebonyi but there are other 90 per cent of Ebonyi people out there that may not need this.

“What I’m saying is that government needs to do more. It is only Ebonyi people on the voting day that will justify whether Governor David Umahi has done well or not. If I say that Umahi has not done well, I’m not being fair. But it is only after the 2019 general elections that we will appreciate the facts whether the Governor did well or not.

“So, if Ebonyi people feel that the governor has done well, then let them vote him in again but if they feel that he didn’t do well, then they should vote him out. It is only the people of Ebonyi that has capacity to say whether the governor did well or not,” he stated.
