2. Presidential aspirant on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (APC) Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, has said that the Buhari led All Progressives Congress (APC) government would be remembered for poverty and nepotism. The former minister said during an interaction with State Chairmen of the PDP in Abuja on Saturday.1. Former governor of Edo state, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has been announced as the new National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC. His announcement followed his emergence as an unopposed candidate for the position in line with the APC constitution. Chairman of the convention committee, Gov. Badaru Abubakar, who supervised the process, called Oshiomhole’s name and demanded verbal confirmation from the delegates, which they did three times.

3. Leader of the New Peoples Democratic Party bloc within the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Kawu Baraje, has warned the APC leadership not to celebrate yet despite the fact that its convention went on successfully on Saturday. Baraje, in a statement from his media office, said the foundation of the convention was already shaking and that the group attended the convention to merely create the impression that they are still members of the APC.

4. A former Governor of Kano State, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Saturday night paid a courtesy visit to former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar at his residence in Asokoro, Abuja, while at the same time shunning the APC convention which held the same day.

Kwankwaso arrived at Atiku’s residence at 8.30pm and went into a closed-door meeting with the former Vice President for almost 45 minutes.

5. The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has reacted to the election of Adams Oshiomhole as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC. The opposition party lamented that corruption allegations against Oshiomhole were ignored and criticized President Muhammadu Buhari for refusing to act. The PDP also said open intimidation and physical assault on aspirants and delegates at the convention confirmed Buhari’s “desperation” to seize the APC’s presidential ticket at all means.

6. Yoruba leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, played host to former president Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday. Obasanjo arrived at Adebanjo’s Lekki residence in company of his loyalists including Otunba Oyewole Fasawe, Chief Joju Fadiro, Chief Kenny Martins, Chief Abraham Akanle, Dr. Femi Majekodunmi, Chief Gbolade Osinowo, among others.

Also at the venue were Overseer of the Latter Rain Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare; former governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, former governor of Ogun State and Director General of the Atiku Abubakar Campaign Organisation, Otunba Gbenga Daniel and Dr. Amos Akingba. Discussions centred on 2019 elections and the unity of the Yoruba race.

President Muhammadu Buhari has declared that his government will henceforth deal with any university council in the country that fails to deal with reported cases of sexual harassment on their campus. The president, who was represented at the 29th and 30th combined convocation ceremony of the University of Jos by the Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof. Abdulrashid Adamu Abubakar, also said he had directed the National Economic Council (NEC) to convene a special session on Thursday, June 28 to interact with the Minister of Education and his team on the challenges facing the education sector.

8. Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe‘s lawyer, Chukwuma-Machukwu Ume (SAN), on Saturday revealed why the Department of State Security (DSS) is detaining the former Deputy Governor of Abia State. Ume said Abaribe was being held for alleged gun running and supporting the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB). He noted that a search warrant, dated June 2, 2018, procured by the DSS to search Abaribe’s Abuja residence, allowed it to “focus and search for arms and ammunitions and any other incriminating document, while the alleged crime was aiding and supporting a proscribed body, i.e. IPOB.”

9. The Senator representing Kaduna Central at the National Assembly, Shehu Sani, has advised the newly elected National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomole, to fix the party. Sani urged the new national executive members of the party not to allow the problems that bedeviled APC in the past three years to persist.

10. The Lawmaker representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Dino Melaye, on Saturday mocked his party, the All Progressives Congress, where he described the national convention of the ruling party as a joke. Malaye who is out of the country posted on his Instagram that the convention was clearly a “political obituary” of the party.
