Tottenham Hotspur striker, Harry Kane, has been named the 2018 most valuable player in world football with a £176.25m price tag.
A study by the CIES Football Observatory shows that the England captain is rated as the most valuable player in world football, ahead of Paris Saint-Germain forwards, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

According to CIES, Kane has had a €201.2m (£176.25m) price tag put on his head, in a study of the top 100 players from Europe’s five biggest leagues.

The 24-year-old is ahead of Neymar and Mbappe, who are currently the two most expensive players in the world.

Neymar has been valued at €195.7m (£171.74m), while Mbappe is priced €186.5m (£163.41m).

Neymar joined PSG for £198m last Summer from Barcelona, while Mbappe’s move from Monaco to PSG is set to be made permanent this Summer for around £166m.

However, Barcelona star, Lionel Messi has dropped from second to fourth-placed in the rankings.

Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah, Spurs’s Dele Alli, Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne and Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku also feature in the top 10.

The sample is renewed every six months, with Kane’s exploits this season and rising status in the game helping him jump from third in January to first in latest standings.
